This out of the way dining experience is a campus favorite. Located just south of the MSU campus Bambino's Cafe is known for the affordable menu and laid back atmosphere. The menu being italian in nature ensures that there will be something for everyone. Everything that you will find on the menu is appealing to mouth and wallet. When it comes down to it Bambino's is the way to go for lunch or dinner with friends, co-workers, or just about anyone.

Wonderful food, it reminds me of my favorite Italian restaurant in Michigan. I took my husband there for lunch this past weekend, neither of us had ever been there before and we wanted to try someplace different.
Don't let the size of Bambino's fool you, this is Italian food at it's best. The service is awesome, the atmosphere is inviting, the portions are huge and the prices are very reasonable. I can see why it is such a busy place to eat. This is one restaurant that we will definitely go back to.

When it comes to atmosphere/ambiance, I LOVE it! I may be biased, since they are only a one mile bicycle ride from my casa. I love it, I am not sure how old the establishment is, but my guess is they have been there for awhile since it is located in a neighborhood and the only commercial joint around.
We sat on the patio on a perfect Springfield summer night and I ordered a portobellow mushroom stuffed ravioli. Yum! It was delicious, with it, two Boulevard Wheats and the bread basket I was fully satisfied and blown away by how delicious it was.
The waitress was knowledgeable of the menu, on the spot, and very friendly. My girlfriend had the same dish, but looking at some of the other tables on the patio, they looked very tempting also.
This was my first trip there, but I know I will going back again. Eye candy wise, this is a college town locale, so you can't go wrong. It was also enjoyable to see other folks rolling up on their bicycles and enjoying a good meal and time. Bambino's Cafe is a perfect place to bring your out of towners for lunch or dinner or a special someone for a unique Springfield experience!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Springfield. It's near the college campus and it's very affordable. Most dishes are between $8-13 for dinner. I usually get so much food that I can get 3 meals out of one visit. The small dinner salad is also scrumptious, as well as the bread. The atmosphere is casual and it's a small place, only about 14 tables and a patio.

Took three visiting childhood friends from Illinois (Rockford, Peoria and Champaign) and they LOVED it so much they insisted we go back again! Loved the marinara sauce, the prices, and the atmosphere. No one tried to hurry us along and we had so much fun talking and eating. Really a great place!

The Locale
According to local lore, the original use of the building that is currently occupied by Bambino's was that of a corner grocery serving the surrounding neighborhood. The store was built during the 1930s at a time when reliance on cars for was not as prevalent as it is now.
Like most everywhere else in the United States, Springfield has suffered from the disquietude of sprawling auto-oriented development that has left many craving a new urbanism that reflects the unique situation that is Bambino's.
Whether you walk, bike or drive here, you will be able to relax in a place that seems off the beaten path but still very much in the midst of it all.
