Can’t Miss Foodie Events – Food in Springfield Missouri
If you’re anything like us, you never miss an opportunity to sample tasty local food. That’s why we’re so excited that festival season in the Ozarks is almost here. From the traditional (corn dogs and Pineapple Whip at Artsfest) to the unexpected (craft cocktails at a brand new film festival), our region has a lot of flavors to offer.
Check out some of our favorite foodie-centric events happening this Spring—almost all of them just a quick bike ride away from our location in the Phelps Grove neighborhood for a chance to sample some of the best food in Springfield Missouri.
Rated SGF Film Festival
Saturday March 31st – Historic Fox Theatre on Park Central Square
Rated SGF, Downtown Springfield’s newest film festival, launches on March 31st. Inspired by exceptional things found in unexpected places, the festival is an all-day celebration of the things that make Springfield a great place to be, including hyper-local refreshments like coffee, beer, cocktails, chocolate and Springfield-centric popcorn flavors.
Rock’n Ribs
April 20th–21st – Ozark Empire Fairgrounds
The annual Rock’n Ribs Barbecue Festival is a time-honored Springfield tradition featuring dozens of teams competing for the barbecue champion crown. The event also benefits seven different children’s charities, so you can feel good about chowing down.
Artsfest
May 5th–6th – Historic Walnut Street
Artsfest is the largest fine arts festival in Southwest Missouri, featuring more than 140 artists from all over the country. That’s not all: Artsfest also features delicious food from some of Springfield’s favorite restaurants and food vendors. Whether you’re hungry for summery treats like Pineapple Whip or something a little more exotic, Artsfest is the place to be.
Mother’s Day Festival
Saturday May 19th – Mother’s Brewing Company
For the past eight years, our friends at Mother’s Brewing Company have marked the weekend after Mother’s Day with a celebration all their own. The annual Mother’s Day festival is always a good time, especially if you’re looking for an excuse to enjoy local brews alongside food from on-the-go vendors.
Taste of SoMo
Saturday June 23rd – Park Central Square
We might be biased, but we think Springfield boasts an impressive selection of locally-owned restaurants. Springfield has everything from international cuisine to farm-to-table fare (not to mention hearty Italian-inspired dishes from your favorite neighborhood cafe). Taste of SoMo, Downtown Springfield’s annual food festival, is a great place to try it all. This annual foodie showcase features dozens of area restaurants, cooking stations, live music and beer on Park Central Square.
