Uh-oh. We see that guilty look on your face. You forgot to make Mother’s Day reservations, didn’t you? Well, Mother’s Day is in just a few days – but there’s still time to save your skin. From a casual Mother’s Day baseball game to a delicious brunch with homemade strawberry shortcake, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Mother’s Day in Springfield, MO.
Cheer On the Cards
It can be hard to find a relaxing Mother’s Day activity if you have little ones. This Mother’s Day, consider loading up the family to cheer on the Springfield Cardinals as they face off against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Hammons Field on Sunday, May 12. It’s a great treat for a sporty mom. Plus, kids receive free ice cream sandwiches before the game – and plenty of distraction during the game – so Mom can have a bit of a break. The Hammons Field gates open at 3:10 p.m. and the first pitch is at 4:10 p.m. Tickets are available online.
Although Missouri weather is always a surprise, we’re anticipating warm temperatures and plenty of sun on Sunday. That makes it the perfect time for a family hike, bike ride or stroll through one of the Springfield area’s gorgeous parks. Our Battlefield and Delmar locations are both located near parks and Greenway trails, making them a great first stop before a day of adventuring.
Catch a Live Performance
Springfield’s performing arts scene is positively blooming. See for yourself by taking Mom to the May 12 matinee of “The Secret Garden,” an exquisite performance at Springfield Little Theater. This weekend, SLT will offer a Mother’s Day package that includes flowers and complimentary drinks for Mom. To purchase your tickets, call the Springfield Little Theatre box office at 417-869-1334. Make sure to get your tickets as soon as possible – they’re likely to sell out.
Treat Mom to a Brew
Here’s one for the beer-loving Moms in the area: Mother’s Brewing Company will host its ninth-ever Mother’s Day Festival next Saturday, May 18. While the fest isn’t technically a celebration for Moms – it’s the brewery’s anniversary event, and it takes place the week after Mother’s Day – it’s still a fun outing for the beer-savvy members of your family. Head to Mother’s Backyard behind the brewery to join in the fun, which includes live music and plenty of ice cold Mother’s beer.
Enjoy An Ozarks Adventure
Horseback riding might be one of the best, most relaxing ways to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ozarks. This year, treat Mom to an expert-guided hour-long horseback ride through 37 North Expeditions, a company that combines outdoor adventures with wine tastings and other luxurious events. This weekend, the Mother’s Day ride will conclude with live music and wine tasting at Bear Creek Winery in Branson. It’s a great option for new and experienced riders, and it’s a Mother’s Day Mom won’t soon forget. Tickets are available online.
