Meet Bambinos Future Broadway Star – Best Restaurants in Springfield Missouri
At Bambinos, we work hard every day on earning our reputation as one of the best restaurants in Springfield Missouri. But being part of this community we love is more than just filling your bellies with delicious pasta. Our little corner of the Midwest is equal parts culinary mecca and craft beer paradise with a passionate arts community.
Some of our own staff knows that better than anyone. Sisilia Shaffer is the General Manager for our Delmar location and she’s been a crucial part of our team for a little over a year. She’s currently performing her managerial duties when she’s not on stage as Sophie, the lead in Springfield Little Theatre’s production of Mamma Mia! We’d like to give a special shout out to Tonya Forbes and Springfield Little Theatre for providing us the photos for this post.
The ABBA-inspired inspired musical is one of many performances under Sisilia’s belt. She’s been involved in theater for over 10 years and thinks her time onstage is part of what makes her such a great member of our team.
“I truly believe that my involvement in theater has helped me excel in my jobs,” she says. “In theater you have to work together, communicate fast and be extremely efficient while also keeping a smile on your face! Those are all things that apply to working in a restaurant.”
Sisilia is also grateful to the cast members at Bambinos for making her job a blast. “I get to work with an amazing staff,” she says. “I truly enjoy everyone I work with. We all work hard and love our jobs, and we all look forward to seeing each other.”
Mamma Mia! runs through October 8. To make sure you don’t miss it, we’ll even give you a special deal if you’ll bring your ticket from the show into our Delmar location. If Sisilia is working, she might even take time out give you an autograph. In the meantime, get to know more about our future Broadway star Sisilia:
What’s your favorite part of performing?
Sisilia – I’d say my favorite part of performing is the energy that is created by everyone involved. It is electric and contagious. From the cast to the crew and the audience members, everyone wants to be there and has a job to do. We are all working together to create this giant piece of art and once the audience comes in, it feels all-encompassing and magical.
What’s your favorite number in the show?
Sisilia – One that continues to stick out is the four-song segment during the end of Act One. It starts with “Super Trooper,” then “Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.” Then, it goes into “Name of the Game” and finishes with “Voulez-Vous.” It has become my favorite moment because of the amount of hard work, the amount of story that is told in such a short amount of time, and simply how much fun it is!
What’s your favorite dish at Bambinos?
Sisilia – My favorite dish is the Portobello Ravioli. It is a delicious ravioli stuffed with portobello and cheese and topped with a creamy Marsala sauce. It is everything I want in a pasta.
What’s your favorite part of working at Bambinos?
Sisilia – To begin with the obvious, the food is to die for. I’ve also been able to create relationships with regular customers that have really enriched my life. I have multiple groups of those people coming to see the show, and it is such a special thing to see their support of not only local restaurants but myself and the arts community in Springfield.
