Tent Theatre Picnics From Your Favorite Springfield Missouri Restaurant

Tent Theatre Picnics From Your Favorite Springfield Missouri Restaurant

Since the 1960s, Missouri State University’s annual Tent Theatre productions have been a major source of local entertainment. This time-honored local tradition features some of the best theatrical talent from Missouri State’s program and beyond, and this season is no exception.

This year, our restaurant in Springfield Missouri is thrilled to partner with Tent Theatre to produce Tent Theatre Picnics, a way for theatre-goers to start their evening of entertainment with a light, tasty picnic. “Tent Theatre picnics have occurred for years, but this is the first time that we have been allowed to go off-campus and partner with Bambinos,” says Mark Templeton, managing director of MSU’s Theatre and Dance department. “Bambinos just seems to be a natural fit for our organization.”

How It Works

Custom Tent Theatre Picnic menus from Bambinos, your favorite Springfield Missouri restaurant, are offered to center around the theme of each Tent Theatre production. Picnics are served on the south patio of Craig Hall from 7 to 7:45 p.m. prior to each Tent Theatre performance.

All of the picnics are $12.50 per person, and a portion of the proceeds supports the Tent Theatre Scholarship Fund. Orders must be placed at least 24 hours in advance, but it’s easy to order online or call 417-836-7678. Can’t stick around for the show? No worries: You don’t have to purchase show tickets to participate in the picnic.

The Menus

All Tent Theatre picnics are served with ice cold Coke products and an after dinner mint. They also each include an autographed souvenir playbill. Menus for each Tent Theatre production are as follows:

Cry-Baby the Musical (June 13–16; June 18–23)

Dreamy Creamy Pasta Salad with blue crab meat
Cheddar cheese biscuit
Watermelon wedge

Peter and the Starcatcher (June 28–July 3; July 5–6)

Chicken salad on ciabatta
Fresh corn salad
Marinated roasted veggies

The Drowsy Chaperone (July 11–14; July 16–21)

Broadway Chilled Asparagus Salad with cherry tomatoes and goat cheese
Charcuterie selection
Scandinavian seed bread

Tent Theatre’s opening weekend is here, and we couldn’t be more excited to partner with this local celebration of the arts. Purchase your Tent Theatre tickets online and don’t forget to add a picnic to your order.
