Why We Love The Phelps Grove Neighborhood – Restaurant in Springfield Missouri
When we opened Springfield’s original Bambinos Cafe on Delmar, we knew the Phelps Grove neighborhood was something special. Today, our customers love the cozy neighborhood feel of our Delmar location and having a great local restaurant in Springfield Missouri within walking distance of their Phelps Grove bungalow. Whether you bike, walk or drive to Bambinos, it’s a great feeling to unwind in our tucked-away cafe that’s close to everything but still slightly off the beaten path. Now, we’d like to introduce you to some of the reasons why we think the Phelps Grove neighborhood is such a great place to live, work and play.
Phelps Grove Park
Phelps Grove Park is one of the area’s most welcoming parks no matter the season. This historic park has a seriously interesting history—it used to be home to a small city zoo. It also features a variety of outdoor amenities like grills, picnic tables, playground equipment and a tennis court. Host your next party or barbecue on the Phelps Grove Park pavilion or take the dog for some much-needed exercise along the park’s well-kept walking trail; either way, Phelps Grove Park is the place to be.
Springfield Art Museum
The Springfield Art Museum is Springfield’s destination for fine art. The museum, which is free and open to the public, features a variety of exciting exhibits that change regularly. The museum’s expansive programming goes beyond art displays to incorporate education, family days, the performing arts and much more. Plus, the recently-updated gift shop is full of gifts for the art lover in your life. Stop by today for a dose of inspiration.
Homes with Character
The homes in Phelps Grove are a mix of classic ranches, mid-century styles and the occasional stone cottage. No two houses in Phelps Grove are alike, which makes for a quirky, exciting community feel. Most homes feature great front porches, yet another factor that makes spring and summertime in Phelps Grove so special. Even if you’re not on the market for a new home, head to Phelps Grove for an evening stroll or a drive with the family to check out what makes our neighborhood unique.
Wellness Culture
Phelps Grove—and Springfield’s Center City in general—is home to a thriving cycling, running and walking community. The neighborhood’s friendly, scenic streets and limited car traffic make it the perfect place to escape on two wheels whether you’re learning to ride a bike or training for your next triathlon. Phelps Grove is also a short distance from downtown Springfield, home to plenty of bike racks if you’re in the mood for some urban exploration.
Friendly Neighbors
The Phelps Grove Neighborhood Association is committed to keeping Phelps Grove a great place to live. They host all kinds of events like neighborhood clean-ups, the annual Art in the Garden event and plenty more.
Phelps Grove is where it all started for us. However, don’t forget about our second Bambinos Cafe location on East Battlefield next to our sister restaurant, B2 Cafe. One thing is certain: We’re proud to call Springfield our home.
